Art Direction / Print Design

Art for People is the latest edition of Providence College’s Art History and Studio Art Journal.

I served as art director and lead designer for this year’s edition, which showcases senior studio art exhibitions alongside art history thesis papers. This experience deepened my skills in layout, typography, and print production, and gave me the opportunity to lead a team of creatives from concept through final delivery.

All of the design decisions I made in creating this book were oriented toward faithfully highlighting the work of this year’s students. I intentionally kept the design clean and restrained to avoid competing with the diverse visual styles represented. My typographic solutions favor legibility and clarity; while the overall architecture, scale, and feel are meant to invite thoughtful interaction.

The CMYK color scheme and cover are meant to invoke the process of designing and printing the book itself —an homage to both analog and digital workflows in print design.
